MADELEINE ANDERSON

Instruments: Violin, Music theory.

Genres: Classical, Pop, Suzuki, Young Beginners, Fiddle

Madeleine is a soon-to-be graduate of the University of Toronto and has been playing the violin since she picked up the instrument at the age of 5. Now, with almost 20 years of violin experience, she’s used the skills that came with the Suzuki method of by-ear learning and active listening to focus her attention on fiddle playing. She believes that training a student’s ear is just as important as teaching individual pieces, as a strong ear is the base for any confident and independent musician.

Madeleine can teach anyone from beginners to experienced violinists just looking for some extra guidance. She is excited to introduce more people to the world of fiddle playing, and loves jamming and learning new tunes on the fly, but has equal enthusiasm for the deliberate and careful learning necessary for classical pieces.

She is a friendly and relaxed teacher who hopes to share the joy that comes with being able to confidently play an instrument and aims to instil that joy in her students.

In her spare time, she can be found wandering around her apartment playing whatever tune comes to mind and trying to piece out whatever song is currently stuck in her head.

She is available to teach any age and skill level. Her preferred genres are classical and fiddle music, but she is able to adapt to student needs.
