Nick began his music education at Snider Music when he was 16! After several years of private lessons in his teenage years Nick studied: Music Engineering and Production at the Harris Institute, Classical Guitar at the RCM and Jazz Guitar/Composition/Pedagogy at York University. Nick completed his B.F.A degree from York in 2015.  In 2016, Nick received a scholarship for graduate studies in musicology at York U.

In addition to his academic studies, Nick has performed regularly as a singer and a guitarist in many cover bands. In recent years the band Blue Cougars has been Nick’s main focus, in which he and his wife Erin, write original Rock compositions.

Nick has taught guitar for just under a decade, and loves his work. He is comfortable teaching all styles and encourages students to explore their own musical interests via composition, theory and technique.

Listening to ‘oldies’ on 1050 chum in the car with my Mom. Most important music education I ever got!

AC/DC (!pre 1980!) when I was a teenager, nowadays probably Wes Montgomery.

I like to teach because…

I LOVE to teach because I love to talk about and play music. More and more I realize that teaching, helping and making sounds is what I am meant to do!

Concert Movie: Hail Hail Rock n Roll (Chuck Berry vs. Keith Richards)

Dramatic Movie: For a Few Dollars More (classic spaghetti western with fantastic soundtrack, starring Clint!)

Why is music important to you?

Music is important to me because it makes me feel free. When I pick up the guitar I can go anywhere I want and hopefully take other people with me!
